Building Stronger Ponds, Smarter Farms, and Sustainable Futures
MIPA Industries continues to advance India’s water management and agricultural infrastructure through GeoWeld Connect, an annual summit dedicated to enhancing geomembrane welding standards, pond construction quality, and sustainable farming practices. The 2025 edition, held on 9 October in Pune, was organised in partnership with Weldy India (a brand of Leister Technologies India Pvt Ltd), our technology collaborator for precision welding solutions.
The event brought together government representatives, BIS officials, horticulture experts, polymer technologists, installers, dealers, and industry leaders, uniting the full ecosystem responsible for building reliable, long-lasting farm ponds across India.
Honoring Dr. Kailas Mote – A Vision for Protected Irrigation
A distinguished highlight of the summit was the felicitation of Dr. Kailas Mote, Former Director of the Maharashtra State Horticulture and Medicinal Plant Board (NHM). In his keynote address, Dr. Mote emphasized how protected irrigation systems, particularly geomembrane-lined ponds, have played a decisive role in positioning Maharashtra as a national leader in horticulture and agricultural exports.

He noted that dependable water storage is essential for maintaining orchards and perennial crops throughout the year, especially in challenging climatic conditions. He further explained that the widespread adoption of community and individual pond schemes has strengthened Maharashtra’s reputation as a progressive and innovation-driven agriculture state.
Dr. Mote highlighted that the long-term success of any pond depends on certified geomembranes, proper deployment, and carefully executed welding carried out by trained professionals.
Recognizing Dealers, Installers & Field Contributors
As part of GeoWeld Connect 2025, MIPA Industries conducted a recognition ceremony to honor the dealers, installers, technicians, and field supervisors who have consistently maintained high standards in pond-lining installations across India. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to acknowledge their dedication, skill, and contribution to promoting reliable and durable pond systems. Their frontline commitment plays a vital role in ensuring that farmers receive long-lasting, leak-proof ponds.
A Dedicated Address by BIS – Ensuring Certified Quality
The summit featured an important address by Mr. Akshay Kute, Deputy Director, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Pune.
Mr. Kute highlighted the necessity of using ISI-marked, BIS-certified geomembranes for all pond-lining applications. He emphasized that certified materials ensure consistent thickness, tensile strength, UV stability, and long-term durability, characteristics essential for safe and reliable water retention.

He also stressed the importance of verifying material authenticity at the field level and following correct deployment practices. His message reinforced that the foundation of a high-quality pond begins with certified materials and is completed through precise, correct installation on the ground.
Collaboration for Quality – MIPATEX × Weldy India
Under our flagship brand MIPATEX, MIPA Industries designs and manufactures robust HDPE geomembranes, pond liners, shade nets, mulch films, vermi beds, irrigation systems, and solutions for modern agriculture.
Our collaboration with Weldy, a global leader in plastic welding technology, reflects our shared mission to ensure that every farm pond is constructed with accuracy, reliability, and long-term performance.
Together, we align strong material integrity with advanced welding precision — enabling farmers to build dependable, leak-proof ponds that improve water management and agricultural outcomes.
Technical Sessions & Live Demonstrations
The summit featured insights from our founder and MD, Mr. Prakash Rijal, along with senior team members Mr. Pradeep Wagh, Mr. Anand Das, Mr. Vishal Mukhi, and Mr. Anand Tate, who addressed real-world challenges related to geomembrane deployment, material behavior, and correct installation practices.
Mr. Jineesh Joseph from Weldy India delivered an important technical session demonstrating how temperature control, welding speed, and proper machine calibration directly influence seam strength and long-term pond performance. His live demonstrations clearly showed the difference between visually acceptable welds and structurally reliable welds that sustain water security for years.

Weldy expert Mr. Yashodeep Jadhav, Mr Pradeep Pailwan and Arati Begale further supported participants with practical demonstrations covering field testing, inspection procedures, and troubleshooting during installation.
Strengthening the Foundation for Water-Secure Agriculture
GeoWeld Connect 2025 reinforced the importance of aligning certified materials, advanced welding technology, skilled installation, and strong policy support. With participation from regulators, manufacturers, installers, and field experts, the summit established a collaborative approach to elevating pond-lining standards nationwide.
At MIPA Industries, GeoWeld Connect represents our long-term commitment to quality, training, and sustainable agricultural development. We will continue to invest in improving standards and empowering field professionals, because when a pond is built stronger, every farm grows stronger.
